A wild ride, distinct in story from the movie but identical in tone. Patrick Bateman, twenty-something consumerist yuppie in 80's Wall Street meanders through exclusive restaurants and nightclubs, cursed with the inability to control his bloodlust, blessed with the ability to exhaustively list the designers of every garment and accessory anyone might be wearing, a trait that stands in ironic contrast to the fact that he and his colleagues have a hard time telling each other apart. At night, he gets into it, targeting animals, prostitutes, colleagues, and the homeless in progressively more gruesome attacks. But this you know from the movie. Unlike the movie, you are left wondering, based on both external treatment of Bateman, and falsifiable details of his claimed experiences, if any of it actually happened.
